This week I visited Kusatsu (in Gunma prefecture) and Mutsuzawa (in Chiba prefecture) with my family. Since we are all foodies, what we were doing was basically exploring local food…lol
We look around a bunch of “Michi-no-Eki,” roadside stations filled with fresh and unique local food products.
My concern was, of course, about legumes!
In Kusatsu, I found Hana-mame (scarlet runner beans) everywhere. Cooked with sugar, these big gorgeous beans are typically eaten as snacks among elders.
